Another Sunrise

There was time for a walk along Burntisland beach on the way to the station this morning. Going to work doesn't seem so bad on days like this.

Off to work we go ....

A slightly dodgy iPhone photo of a wonderful sunrise as my train to work crossed the Firth of Forth.

MacLeod's Maidens

On our way back from Macleod's Maidens, a 10 mile walk. Tiring but very rewarding.

The Cuillin Hills

A lovely day but looking ominous as ever up in The Cuillin Hills. You will have to wait for the full postings for the pictures of the longest waterfall on Skye.

Coral Beach

This morning it was lashing it down so we headed to Jann's Cake Shop ( not to be missed but more of that later). While eating our cakes the sum came out so we headed to the beach. Look at the glorious weather now !

Leuchars Air Show

Leuchars Air Base is earmarked for closure so this might be the last ever air show.

The only remaining Vulcan bomber.

The Blades aerobatic display team.

The Red Arrows.
Since last photographing the Red Arrows over the Firth of Forth they suffered the loss of Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging at the Bournemouth Air Show.  Their display at Leuchars was the first since that accident and they paid a very emotional tribute to their lost colleague.

It was very poignant that the position Flight Lieutenant John Egging would have flown in is very visible in this formation.

The Fife Coastal Path

The Fife Coastal Path runs from North Queensferry in the south to Tayport in the north. We have fairly regularly done sections either side of Burntisland to Aberdour and Kinghorn but have always intented to completed the entire 80 miles.

Here are some photographs of our walk from South Queensferry, across the Forth Road Bridge, as far as Aberdour.

For those of you who don't know, John & I have a bit of a penchant for modernist houses.  I see this one regularly from the train on my commute to work so couldn't resist taking a picture.

The Forth Bridge is so big that as soon as maintenance crews have finished painting it ,its time to start again. Thus, any task which can never be completed is said to be 'like painting the Forth Bridge'. No more - the bridge has recently had its famous red paint replaced with an epoxy resin expected to last 20-30 years.
.

For some reason I had a bit of a thing for photographing jettys, no explanation.

Donibristle House, Dalgety Bay.

Beach houses do exist in Scotland!

Nearing the end of our 12 mile walk.

Neil and Clair's first visit to Burntisland

These pictures are from the coastal path between  Burntisland and Aberdour. You will see in future posts that John & ! have now walked the section from South Queensferry to Aberdour.

A new beach.

Tentsmuir beach near St Andrews is great.  Similar to those we used to frequent in East Lothian but much busier.  For beach fans out there check out www.beachtomato.com

The only place I have seen cows on the beach.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

On the way to the south coast we stopped off for a couple of days in Barnsley. I was working in Leeds but John visited the Sculpture Park with his Mum & Dad. I was very jealous when I saw these photos of the Jaume Plensa exhibition.
If you fancy visiting this exhibit is on until 22nd January 2012.
